Ayurvedic Products For Hair Health Do They Work
Ayurvedic hair products have been steadily gaining popularity these past couple of years. This is due in part because of our generation’s greater acceptance and understanding of alternative medicine. Another reason would be because the different cultures in the world are more open with each other then it ever has been in the past. This sharing of cultures and a more open minded approach to each other’s practices have made accessible knowledge dating back thousands of years. Such is the case with ayurvedic hair care.
Ayurvedic treatment for hair conditions have been tried and tested by generations of mothers and daughters in India and other parts of Asia. Herbal oils and pastes for hair Ayurveda has been consistently delivering the promised results of shiny healthy hair. So with the influx of new ayurvedic hair care products in the market are we as well guaranteed the same results? A question such as that would have to take us back to the traditional formulas that have withstood the test of time.
In India oiling or the use of ayurvedic hair oil during a scalp massage is taught as basic hair care by parents to children. Coconut, olive or sesame oil are the most popular choices for this twice weekly ritual. Hair ayurvedic prescribes the mixing of other oils to the base component when an ailment is experienced. Since the base oils are proven as good moisturizers for our skin and scalp thru numerous studies, we can safely say that oiling our hair as prescribed will definitely make our it healthier.
The important question we should ask ourselves will be, are ayurvedic hair products as 100% natural as they claim? Is the formulation of the new item still the same as the traditional mixes? If they are not we cannot expect the same results. Be vigilant about product labels, they should tell you how much of an ingredient is in the liquid. The less of the main ingredient the less likely it will result in the beautiful hair you dream of.

How can I make my hair look healthier, shinier, smoother, not as frizzy, and more manageable without spending a lot of money and besides the obvious (brushing 100 times daily, keeping it clean, ect….)?
Answer
Good hygiene is important for healthy hair. This includes brushing the hair properly and washing it with a mild shampoo. Good nutrition (a well – balanced diet of fresh foods and lots of water) not only helps one to have beautiful – looking hair but also improves it’s texture.
Wash your hair daily or every other day. The extra circulation provided by the shampoo /message stimulates the oil glands to work more efficiently and brings natural oils into the hair. This applies to all types of hair.
Use shampoo that is pH balanced and that is designed specially for you hair type (dry, oily, etc.). Ask your hair specialist to assist you in selecting the right shampoo for your hair type. Always rinse with cool (not hot) clean water for extra shine. Allow your hair to air dry naturally whenever possible. Never brush soaking – wet hair, as the hair is quite elastic at this time and can be pulled and stretched to the breaking point. A wide – toothed comb is best for wet hair.
Give your hair a good brushing before bed. This should be done by bending forward from the waist, head down, brushing from the back to front. Brush at least fifty to one hundred strokes. This will help remove dirt, pollutants and damaging particles from the hair in addition to stimulate circulation which will increase natural oils for added sheen and oxygen to the hair and scalp.
Once a week massage jojoba oil with one to two drops of rosemary oil for dry or oily hair and tea tree for hair that show signs of dandruff into the scalp. Leave on over night, wash out the next day.
