If You Want Your Hair to Look Great, Take These Vitamins

Unfortunately, most people living in the United States don’t eat as many healthy foods as they should. We live in a civilized society in which we can get all of the healthy foods that we need such as whole grains, meats, poultry, fish, and fresh fruits and vegetables, but that doesn’t stop most people from eating fast food way too often. Your body needs certain nutrients in order to keep functioning like it’s supposed to and just because you get full off of your food doesn’t mean that you’re getting those essential nutrients. One place where you may notice this shortage is when your hair starts thinning. Here is a look at some of the most useful vitamins that will help prevent your hair from falling out much more than it has always been:

1. Vitamin A – your hair can easily start falling out if you don’t get enough vitamin A. If you decide to add a supplement to your daily regimen, though, don’t go overboard. Hair loss can also result from excessive amounts of vitamin A in your system. Healthy foods will provide you with all of the vitamin A that you need. You can choose from a large variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, meats, and oatmeal in order to eat the proper amount of vitamin A every day.

2. Vitamin B12 – an adequate amount of this vitamin in your diet will help you keep your hair. Eggs, meat, and poultry all contain adequate amounts of vitamin B12.

3. Vitamin B7 – biotin is another name for this vitamin. Biotin is necessary to increase and maintain thick, healthy hair and for upping the density of the hair you do have. Vitamin B7 is found in foods that people don’t commonly eat. These foods include beans, whole grain breads, cauliflower, chocolate, egg yolks, fish, mushrooms, peanuts, and poultry.

4. Vitamin B6 – if you are suffering from excessive hair loss, your doctor may recommend that you include more vitamin B6 in your diet. Good sources of vitamin B6 include cereal grains, legumes, vegetables (carrots, spinach, peas, and potatoes), milk, cheese, eggs, fish, liver, meat, and flour.

5. Vitamin D – it is important for everyone to get enough calcium and phosphorus and this vitamin helps your body retain them. It is also important for healthy hair. Making sure that you keep plenty of fish, eggs, and fortified milk in your diet will ensure that you get enough vitamin D. Being exposed to sunlight will also help your body produce more vitamin D.
